DD Freedish will have customer care service for activate STBs

Doordarshan DTH ( DD Freedish) will have now customer care service through call centre for implementation of Conditional Access System (CAS). The Set-top boxes will be CAS enabled and customers shall have to purchase STBs from the Doordarshan authorized Indian STB OEM's dealers/distributors. Set-Top Boxes will be registered by customers on Doordarshan DD Freedish network through call centre and Doordarshan will have the database of all its active customers and set-top boxes.
DD Freedish will have customer care service for activate STBs

A customer can log his/her complaint, if any, with the call centre of Doordarshan which will be transferred to the respective service centre of the authorised set-top box OEM's who will finally redress the compliant of the customer related to the set-top box.

So DD Freedish DTH is very soon going implementation of this call centre facility.

31st e-Auction process has been stopped for today dated 06/10/2016 (Thursday). 

Due to technical glitches experienced by the bidders during the bidding process in the e-Auctioning portal of M/s. C1 India Pvt. Limited, the 31st e-Auction process has been stopped for today dated 06/10/2016 (Thursday). The e-Auction process will be resumed once all the technical glitches are rectified by the e-Auctioneer M/s. C1 India Pvt. Ltd. All the registered Bidders will be informed about the resumption date and time of 31st e-Auction. Inconvenience caused is regretted.

MoU signed between Doordarshan and IGNOU for transmission of Gyan Darshan channels.

A Memorandum of Understanding was today signed between Doordarshan & IGNOU regarding the transmission of Four Gyan Darshan Educational channels. The Gyan Darshan Bouquet of Educational TV Channels is an educational media initiative of MHRD in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Prasar Bharati & ISRO with IGNOU as the nodal agency.

It consists of four TV Channels namely Gyandarshan-1 & Gyandarshan-2 (by IGNOU) Gyandarshan-3 Eklava (by IIT, Delhi) Gyandarshan-4, Vyas Channel (by UGC, CEC). 

It was initially launched on 26th January, 2000 as a solitary 24x7 hour satellite channel under the banner of Doordarshan which provided a Transponder on INSAT 2B satellite, free of cost. Gyan Darshan ran successfully till 2nd June 2014 as a must carry channel for educational programmes. GD was shut down by ISRO to facilitate its migration from INSAT 3C to GSAT-10. IGNOU now needs to apply for a fresh Licence to start the uplinking of its Channels for GSAT-10 Satellite. Under the Up-linking & Down-linking Guidelines of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, IGNOU is not eligible for the grant of a Licence. IGNOU requested Doordarshan to apply for the necessary Licence and permissions for the Gyan Darshan channels. Through this MoU, Doordarshan has acceded to the request of IGNOU and agreed to apply for and obtain the necessary Licence and permissions as are required for the telecast of Gyan Darshan channels from IGNOU Earth Station, Delhi to operate in C-band from GSAT-10.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Supriya Sahu, Director General, Doordarshan said, “ I am happy that we have signed this MOU with IGNOU and joined hands with a premier
institution like IGNOU. This partnership would ensure that the educational channels of IGNOU reach and benefit millions of students across the country. I think this is one of
the most outstanding initiatives in the field of Public Broadcasting”. Prof. Ravindra Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU said, “Gyandarshan has always been a flagship programme for IGNOU and educational community. Today we (IGNOU & DD) are both happy and enormously excited that Gyandarshan has once again
become a reality. Our grateful thanks to Ms. Supriya Sahu, DG, DD for her kind support in reviving Gyandarshan”.

In 31st e-auction 3 New channels won the slots on DD Freedish

DD Free dish recently announced for 31st eacution on 6th October 2016 but due to some technical problem, so this eauction process completed on 21 October 2016.

In this e-auction 3 channels won the slot, channels are:

  • News State UP /UT
News State UP / UT channel added on dd freedish
  • Teleshop TV (Maha Cartoon)
Teleshop TV (Maha Cartoon) channel added on dd freedish
  • 9X Bajao TV ( Housefull Action Movie)
9x Bajao TV, housefull action movies channel added on dd freedish

Very soon these channels will be available on DD Freedish within 2-3 days.


Very soon DD Freedish going to add 24 more television channels in MPEG-4 quality but users will have to buy iCAS-enabled authorised set-top boxes for access all 104 TV channels.

DD Freedish already announced tender for STB OEMs to authorization to start manufacturing for Doordarshan MPEG-4 set-top boxes.

Maha Cartoon TV added on DD Freedish at Channel No.52

This is good news that Maha Cartoon TV added on DD Freedish platform at channel no.52.

Maha Cartoon TV is kids TV channel, this is India's first free-to-air Kids TV channel. Also it is first Cartoon/kids TV channel of DD Freedish platform. Company going to shutdown its teleshopping channel "TeleShop" TV and it is becoming  Kids TV.

In 31st e-auction 3 TV channels won the slots on DD Freedish - Check here.

You can tune France24 TV channel because this channel replaced with France24.
But still you are not getting this channel then you can tune your Set-top box at this frequency:

How do receive other FTA (Free to Air) channels via DD Free Dish DTH system?

As per the regulations by TRAI, DTH operators are not allowed to lock the FTA channel reception if customer has withdrawn DTH services with no dues to the operator. Customer is free to use the CPE (Customer premise equipment) to receive Free To Air channels from Doordarshan or other available satellites. But most of DTH operators are not providing this facility to customers. The set-top boxes provided by operators are locked; you can’t do much with them. However, LNB and antenna are general purpose hardware which can be used to tune the signals of your choice. You can use free-to-air set-top box to connect with this antenna to receive fta channels.

Well, if you are already DD Free dish user, then you can tune DD Free dish free-to-air TV channels, also you can try to tune other KU-band satellite for add more fta channels in this list.

Which satellite you can scan for more fta channels including DD Freedish channels?
You can tune SES8 / NSS6 satellite transponder frequencies, and you no need to align your dish antenna. You will get signals from both satelite (DD Freedish at GSAT15 Satellite at 93.5 Degree east and NSS6/SES8 satellite at 95.0 Degree East). So you can point your dish antenna at 94.3 degree east to get signals of both satellites.


I have pointed our DTH antenna to 94.3 degree east, now which frequencies I need scan?
You can scan your free-to-air STB by "Auto Scan" or "Blind Scan" function, if you still not getting signals then you can put given below frequencies in your set-top box and align your dish antenna accordingly.

DD Freedish added 3 New Frequencies (Transponders Frequency)

Good news for DD Free Dish (DD Direct Plus) users, 3 new Horizontal frequencies has been added on GSAT-15 at 93.5° east. When you will tune MPEG-4 or HD Set-top box then you will get these transponders. You will not get any TV or Radio channels but you will get signals.

Below are the details of 3 new frequencies. Presently there are no channels on it.
